A Night at the Blood and Bone Ball
Did someone say Fantasy Book Ball? Because on July 26th, 2025, I stepped straight into the world of magic, velvet, and dangerous fun at the Blood and Bone Ball in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted by the amazing Phantasia Events. This was only the second fantasy ball I have ever attended, and let me tell you… the vibes were immaculate. From the costumes to the ambiance to the sheer energy in the room, everything felt like walking into the pages of a dark fairytale.
But the real highlight of the night?
I had just received the very first printed copies of my book, and I got to hand them directly to content creators Steven Walker and PB Squamer. I was shaking. I was internally screaming. And they were both so gracious, kind, and genuinely excited. Steven even mentioned Love of the Bladed Dove on their podcast afterward — and yes, I am still kicking my feet over it.
There is something so surreal about standing in a room full of fantasy lovers while holding the physical proof of your own world-building in your hands. Not only did I get to dress up like I belonged in an enchanted realm, but I got to put my book into the world in such a magical setting.
It was thrilling. It was inspiring. It was the kind of night that sticks with you long after the music fades and the glitter settles.
If you ever get the chance to attend a fantasy ball, do it. And if you see me there, come say hi. I will absolutely be the one in a gown, losing my mind over the magic of it all.
